WINTER INDOOR LEAGUE

2021/22 Winter Flag League

We are excited to announce that our Winter Flag League will be returning this year after an absence due to Covid!  Some details are still being finalized however the following will provide you with the basic information for the coming season.

 

AGE DIVISIONS FOR 2021
Player ages are determined by the year of birth (not their actual age at the time of registration).  The following divisions are available in our Winter Flag season:

5 A-SIDE DIVISIONS - 5 players on the field from each team at a time

  • U10 (born in 2013/14/15)
  • U12 (born in 2011/12)
  • U14 (born in 2009/10)
  • U16 (born in 2007/08)
  • High School Girls (currently attending grades 9-12)

NEW - 7v7 VARSITY DIVISION

7 players on the field from each team at a time (tentative)

U16 players only eligible if registering as part of a team. 
Individual U16 players are not eligible for 7v7.

  • U18 (born in 2004-2008)
Space will be limited! To ensure your spot be sure to register as soon as possible.
 
How many players do we need for a team?

5 a-side teams

  • minimum of 10 registered players
  • maximum of 12 registered players

7 a-side teams

  • must have a minimum 14 registered players (maximum 16) 

Can I register even if I don't have a team?

You can register as an individual to be assigned to a team that do not have full rosters.  In some cases teams are made
up of individuals to create a "free agent" team.  You can even list names of friends to be assigned to the same team!

How long is the season?

The League will run from early January to approximately mid/end of March. All games will be played Saturdays with one game per week.

How many games in the season?
The total number of games including playoffs and championships is determined by the total number of teams.

Where do the Winter Flag games take place?

All Games will take place at the University of Winnipeg RecPlex.
Where do teams practice?
Practices are the responsibility of coaches who will need to find locations themselves, if desired.   This is intended to be a recreational league and we encourage participation and fun more than competition, especially at the younger ages. The rules of the game are learned very quickly and even teams that do not find themselves able to practice between games will get a lot of excitement and fun from participating!
How much does flag football cost?
The league fee is $200 plus the 2022 Annual Membership and Insurance of $40.20 = $240.20
HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS - $50 FEE
 
What do I need to provide?
  • Good indoor runing shoes and lots of energy!
  • Pocketless, solid colour shorts.  (These can be difficult to find and can be purchased through our office)
  • Your registration fee includes two game shirts to keep (one home, and one jersey)
