REFEREES

With the second largest flag League in the country and growing every year, Football Manitoba is constantly in need of more referees!  Flag referees play a vital role in the success of our flag football leagues and allow us to make this fun sport available to more kids every year.

Anyone can be a flag official (after training) starting at the age of 14.  Experience playing flag football is beneficial but not a requirement as the rules of the game are fairly easy to learn compared to tackle football.  Parents can also become referees which is a great way to get involved in your child's sport, get active and have some fun.

Younger referees are only eligible to officiate games for age groups younger then their own, meaning that a 14 year old referee will only officiate U10 and U12 with the possibility of U14 if the refree is already 14 when the season begins.

In the Spring Flag season referees will officiate two one-hour games each night, and can be assigned games 4 nights per week though the season - based on their availability.  Over the course of a normal season, referees that are available almost all nights can earn several hundred dollars over the 7-8 week season.

2022  Spring Referee Recruitment

February 21st we will be holding a 2 hour, online training session for interested NEW referees.  There is no cost for the training and all you need to do is register using the link below.  This will be followed by on-field training during games in our Winter League which is happening right now at the UofWinnipeg Recplex on Saturdays.
